Thesis
President Ronald Reagan, a key player in the Iran-Contra Affair, felt like he had a responsibility to free hostages being held in Lebanon. Moreover, the affair grew because of President Reagan's pressure as a leader of democracy to stop the spread of communism in Central America, specifically Nicaragua. At the same time, the Iran-Contra Affair was a part of the “Constitution in Crisis” dilemma, and blocked the public's right to know about governmental affairs.
